JAKARTA - Dutch citizens have undergone a trial for a case of cannabis-type narcotics that was planted in one of the rented houses in Merta Gangga Neighborhood, Ubung Kaja Village, North Denpasar District, Denpasar City, Bali.
Public Prosecutor (JPU) Lovi Pusnawan charged Rashim Abdoelrazak (30) with Article 610 Paragraph (2) letter a and Article 111 Paragraph (2) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2023 concerning Narcotics, in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustment.
"The defendant's act without the right to produce, import, export or distribute Narcotics of Group I as referred to in paragraph (1) is carried out against Narcotics of Group I in the form of plants weighing more than one kilogram or more than five trees or Narcotics of Group I not plants weighing more than 5 grams," said the prosecutor, Tuesday, February 24.
In the prosecutor's indictment letter, it was revealed that on October 1, 2025 at around 12.30 WITA, inside a house on Jalan Bina Kusuma IV, Banjar Lingkungan Merta Gangga, Ubung Kaja Village, North Denpasar District, the man of Kazakh descent was arrested along with the defendant Kseniia Varlamova (separate file).
Their residence was raided by the police, because they had 14 marijuana trees in their house.
In the prosecutor's indictment, it was also revealed that the defendant indeed intended to plant marijuana, which had been arranged in a black hydroponic tent to produce more marijuana plants.
The defendant admitted that the marijuana plants planted with the hydroponic system were assembled by his friend named Chester in March 2025. The defendant has been planting marijuana since August 25, 2025.
"The defendant prepared several marijuana seeds and white colored tissue, after which the defendant's white tissue was moistened with water and on top of it the defendant put some marijuana seeds, then the defendant covered it with white tissue and moistened it with water until it grew roots," said the prosecutor.
When the roots have grown, said the prosecutor, the defendant moved the cannabis plant seedlings into a clear plastic cup that had been filled with white tissue moistened with water and covered.
Furthermore, if the roots are longer, the defendant will move the cannabis plant seedlings to the median of the plant which contains coconut fibers placed on a container containing water until the leaves and flowers grow.
"When the marijuana plant starts to grow, the defendant moves it to a white pot that already contains coconut fibers, after which the defendant takes care of the marijuana plant by routinely watering and fertilizing until the marijuana plant grows large," said the prosecutor as reported by ANTARA.
