BRIN Ready to Intervene in Low Competitive Regions through Innovation House

JAKARTA - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) will immediately intervene in areas with a low Regional Competitiveness Index (IDSD) through the establishment of Regional Innovation Houses (RID).

The head of BRIN, Arif Satria, said that in the near future his party would launch the Indonesian Innovation House (RII) in Jakarta as a national innovation-based ecosystem. After the launch, the concept will be lowered to the regional level in the form of RID.

"Soon we will launch in Jakarta this Indonesian Innovation House, and after we launch it as an ecosystem based on national innovation, we will lower it or cascade to the regional level, namely the Regional Innovation House," said Arif in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, February 24.

BRIN through the Regional Research and Innovation Agency (Brida) is ready to help local governments in dealing with various issues related to strengthening innovation.

"This Regional Innovation House will be one of the important pillars for the growth of innovation, so that innovation can have an impact on economic progress," he said.

Arif revealed that a number of regional heads had contacted BRIN and expressed their readiness to open RID in their respective regions this year. According to him, this shows the increasing awareness of regions about the importance of research and innovation.

"I am very proud of the region that has begun to be aware and is competing to be the first," he said.

In line with Arif, Bima Arya Sugiarto emphasized that research, innovation, and collaboration are the keys to the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045.

According to Bima, regional development must be based on research and collaboration, and not solely driven by economic or political interests.

"We welcome the initiative of the Head of BRIN for the regions to make the innovation index and the competitiveness index very serious to provide an impact on the targets for progress in the regions. The Ministry of Home Affairs is ready to focus on piloting projects, several regions, whether provinces, cities, or regencies, we will supervise together and we will strengthen to build its innovation ecosystem," said Bima.
