JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) is accelerating the distribution of the Rice and Corn Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program to maintain price stability, strengthen supply, and protect people's purchasing power ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026.
"We at Bapanas, according to the instructions of the Head of Bapanas, Mr. Andi Amran Sulaiman, have prepared a food intervention program, primarily to maintain the stability of strategic staple foods for the community," said Director of Supply and Food Price Stabilization at Bapanas Maino Dwi Hartono in a statement in Jakarta, Saturday.
He said, there was an agreement on additional budget (ABT) to spur the rice and corn feed SPHP program. The plan is that both SPHP programs will start in March which is the fasting period of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 Masehi
"In March (2026), we will continue our rice SPHP, but the distribution will be selective because it must prioritize deficit areas and not in areas where there is a harvest. Until the end of February, rice SPHP is still there with last year's budget," said Maino.
He said that the budget for the implementation of the 2026 rice SPHP program had been allocated at Rp. 4.97 trillion.
The funds, continued Maino, are equivalent to the cost of the price subsidy provided by the government for a total of 828 thousand tons of SPHP rice purchased by the public.
Meanwhile, for the budget of the SPHP corn feed program in 2026, it is IDR 678 billion. With that government budget, the target for the distribution of SPHP corn feed to farmers can reach a total of 242 thousand tons.
"Of course this is a fresh wind because the target for SPHP corn this year has increased drastically to almost five times compared to the realization of the previous year," said Maino.
The distribution of SPHP corn in 2025 is at 51.2 thousand tons targeting 3,578 breeders of laying hens in 17 provinces. The SPHP corn program is considered to help independent layer farmers obtain feed at a more affordable price.
"This program can be a support for the stability of the price of chicken eggs and chicken meat because corn is a source of poultry feed that is widely used in Indonesia," said Maino.
Previously, the Head of Bapanas and Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman ensured that food stability during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026 could be maintained as in the previous Christmas and New Year period without significant price fluctuations.
He assessed that the experience of controlling prices during Christmas and New Year 2025/2026 previously became an important reference for the government in maintaining the supply and distribution of food so that the public does not feel a spike in prices that are burdensome during religious holidays.
The government targets consumers to enjoy better food prices compared to the previous period, by ensuring no price increases and strengthening supervision to maintain the purchasing power of the community as a whole.
"The government's target is the consumer, especially for Eid al-Fitr and Ramadan, the public must enjoy good prices. Prices should not go up," said Amran.
