Brimob Member Allegedly Abused a Teenager to Death in Tual City, the Perpetrator Arrested

The Brimob member who allegedly abused the teenager to death has been secured by the police (special document).

JAKARTA - A member of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) in Tual City, Maluku, is suspected of torturing a teenager named Arianto Tawakal (14) until the victim was covered in blood and died. The incident occurred on Thursday, February 19, 2026, in the Tual City area.

The victim, who was still sitting on the bench of the madrasah tsanawiyah (MTs) in Maluku, was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. However, his life could not be saved.

Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Johnny Eddizon Isir, emphasized that the National Police institution was committed to taking firm action against its members who were proven to have violated the law and the code of ethics. He ensured that the perpetrators had been secured.

The alleged perpetrator is known to be a member of the Brimob Kompi 1 Batalyon C Pelopor with the initials Bripda MS and has been arrested by the Tual Police.

"The National Police is firmly committed to the law enforcement process and the code of ethics for individuals involved in a transparent and accountable manner," Johnny said when confirmed, Saturday, February 21, 2026.

Johnny also expressed his deep sorrow over the incident. In the incident, the alleged perpetrator allegedly hit the victim's head causing serious injuries that led to his death.

Apart from Arianto, another teenager named Nasrim Karim (15) was also a victim and reportedly suffered a broken bone due to the alleged violence.

"The National Police is deeply saddened by the death of the victim and empathizes with the victim's family for this incident," said Johnny.

Currently, Bripda MS has been detained at the Tual Police Detention House to undergo further examination. The police also invited the public to jointly monitor the legal process so that it runs in accordance with the principles of transparency and accountability.

"The National Police invites families and all components of society to jointly monitor the law enforcement process against the individual in a transparent and accountable manner," he said.
