SEMARANG - Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi said there were nine regencies/cities in the region that had submitted an industrial area formation.
"Industrial areas are the main attraction for developing new economic growth. There are nine regencies/cities that will later apply to become industrial areas," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, February 21.
According to him, the industrial area is currently still an important support in growing the regional economy.
The nine areas include Rembang Regency, Demak Regency, Semarang City, Kendal Regency, Batang Regency, Brebes Regency, Cilacap Regency, Banyumas Regency, and Kebumen Regency.
He explained that the development of industrial areas will later be adjusted to the potential of each region.
With the presence of industrial areas, he said, new economic growth centers will be formed more evenly.
In addition to industrial areas, he emphasized the strengthening of the MSME sector, which has almost four million units in Central Java as an economic driver at the lower level, as well as upgrading to a larger scale.
"So there needs to be assistance, capital, then marketing, and so on," he explained.
The Central Java Provincial Government also continues to encourage creative economy in the region, because the ekraf sector can become a source of new economic growth.
In the tourism sector, he ensured that the development of more than 1,000 tourist villages did not stop at mere formation, but was strengthened through technical training, management, funding, and promotion.
"We have created a thousand tourist villages. We can't just let it go. There must be technical training, marketing, funding, management, and promotion," he said.
