JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump on Thursday gave Iran 15 days to reach an agreement on concerns that began with its nuclear program, or it would face bad things.
"We're going to make a deal or it's going to be a bad thing for them," President Trump told reporters on Air Force One, AFP reported (20/2).
Asked about a deadline for Tehran, President Trump said, "I think it will be enough time 10, 15 days, maximum."
Earlier on Thursday, President Trump had suggested a 10-day time for Iran to reach an agreement.
"It has been proven for years that it is not easy to make a meaningful deal with Iran. We have to make a meaningful deal, otherwise bad things will happen," Trump said at the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council, his initiative to secure stability in Gaza.
At the event in Washington, he warned the United States "may have to go further" without a deal, adding: "You'll find out in the next 10 days."
It is known that US envoy Steve Witkoff and President Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, negotiated indirectly with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Geneva on Tuesday, with Iran's highest diplomat, in a meeting that was said to have made progress.
Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to hold talks on February 28 in Israel with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has long advocated a tough line against Tehran and ordered last year's bombing campaign.
