BOGOR - Commission II of the Bogor City DPRD proposes the relocation of street vendors (PKL) from the Alun-Alun area to a more representative location as a solution to the arrangement, by ensuring the readiness of infrastructure and the sustainability of the traders' business.

The proposal emerged in a meeting of the Bogor City DPRD Commission II on Wednesday, February 18, which was attended by the Alun-Alun Traders Association, Satpol PP, the KUKMDagin Office, and the Transportation Office.

The Secretary of Commission II of the Bogor City DPRD, Mochamad Benninu Argoebie, emphasized that the relocation to Jalan Nyi Raja Permas must be prepared thoroughly so as not to harm traders.

"The arrangement of street vendors is not just eviction, but an arrangement that is in favor of everyone. Don't let street vendors become victims of being moved to a place where the buyer doesn't want to come. The infrastructure at the relocation site must be ready," said Benninu.

Chairman of Commission II of the Bogor City DPRD, Achmad Rifki Alaydrus, stated that his party was trying to align the interests of traders with the enforcement of regional regulations. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the aesthetics of the city without eliminating the right of citizens to make a living.

"Street vendors have rights, but on the other hand there is a prohibited zone according to Regulation Number 1 of 2021 which we must respect together," said Rifki.

The Legal Assistant of the Bogor City Square Traders Association, Ending, said that the association, which shelters around 300 members - 230 of whom have KTA - needs legal certainty so that they can trade without having to face enforcement.

"We want certainty and protection on how to trade in the Square so that they are not chased by Satpol PP," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bogor City Police, Pupung, emphasized that his party was only carrying out the provisions of Regulation Number 1 of 2011. According to him, the Square is a city showcase that must maintain order and function.

"For the Square, we apologize that we will continue to maintain it until there is no discretion regarding this ordinance," he said.

The head of the UMKM Department of the KUKMDagin Office, Devie, added that the government was preparing a shelter location that could accommodate 200 culinary and 25 non-culinary street vendors. Priority will be given to old traders, especially former Taman Topi.

Member of Commission II, Heri Cahyono, encouraged the Mayor of Bogor to intervene if necessary for policy discretion, while maintaining a balance between enforcing rules and protecting the economy of the people.

At the end of the meeting, Commission II asked the legal representative of the community to immediately write a letter to the Mayor of Bogor to explain the chronology and legal basis as a consideration before the permanent relocation was carried out through the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) stage.
