Tomorrow Fasting, House of Representatives Chairman Urges Society to Care for Each Other in Ramadan

JAKARTA - Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani congratulated Muslims throughout Indonesia on fasting in the month of Ramadan 1447 H. He also invited the public to cultivate concern and the spirit of brotherhood in this holy month.

"Ramadan is a time to cleanse the soul, strengthen faith, and cultivate concern and brotherhood," Puan said in a statement, Wednesday, February 18.

Puan said Ramadan is the right time to cultivate a sense of empathy for others so he invited all Muslims to share happiness with those in need.

"Hopefully, every worship that we carry out will be a path to a patient, more caring, and more devout person," said Puan.

According to him, Ramadan is not only a means of refraining from thirst and hunger, but also a moment for Muslims to be grateful for all the blessings given by Allah SWT.

"In humility and sincerity, let us sail through Ramadan with faith and a sincere heart," said Puan.

The PDIP legislator from the Central Java District also hopes that all Indonesian people will continue to cultivate the spirit of togetherness in the month of Ramadan. Moreover, said Puan, this year's Ramadan is close to Chinese New Year, the pre-Easter period for Christians, and Nyepi Day at the end of Ramadan.

"Hopefully, various religious moments that are close in time can further strengthen the unity of people of different faiths," said Puan.

To Muslims, Puan hopes that Ramadan can bring blessings and forgiveness. "Hopefully in Ramadan we will be given health, strength, and smoothness in carrying out fasting until we meet Eid al-Fitr later," he said.

"In this holy month, may all our efforts and hard work get blessings from Allah. Marhaban ya Ramadan 1447 H! Selamat menjalankan ibadah puasa," concluded Puan.
