MUI Condemns Alleged Use of Vacuum Bomb in Gaza: Barbarity Beyond Limits

JAKARTA - The Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) for Foreign Relations and International Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, expressed deep indignation regarding the latest investigative report from Al Jazeera. The report revealed the alleged use of thermal weapons or vacuum bombs by the Israeli military in Gaza which caused thousands of civilians to disappear instantly.

Humanitarian Tragedy: 2,842 Residents Disappeared Without a Trace

Based on the data of the investigation, it is estimated that as many as 2,842 people were missing without a trace due to the extreme temperatures produced by the weapon. Prof. Sudarnoto assessed this finding as evidence of a level of cruelty that is beyond the limits of human reason.

"I am shocked and angry at the same time. If this report is true, then this is not just a violation, but a form of barbarism that goes beyond the limits of the most basic conscience," said Prof. Sudarnoto in his official statement.

He explained that thermal weapons are capable of creating temperatures of up to thousands of degrees Celsius. The effects are very terrible: the human body can be destroyed without a trace in an instant. "This is a very disgusting form of violence and contrary to the principles of international humanitarian law," he added.

Serious Violations of the Geneva Conventions

MUI emphasized that the use of such weapons of mass destruction is a serious violation of the Geneva Convention. Prof. Sudarnoto demanded that the international community not apply double standards in enforcing human rights.

Some of the firm demands that were submitted include:

Independent Investigation: Urging the UN to establish a credible and transparent investigation team to investigate these war crimes. Global Accountability: Demand that the perpetrators be brought to international justice. Criticism of the US: Highlight the role of Donald Trump and the US government who are considered to have let go of even supporting Israel's actions. Boycott Arms Supplies: Urging the international community to stop the supply of weapons that exacerbate the suffering of the Palestinian people.

"The world must not be silent. Peace is impossible to achieve if justice is not upheld. Humanity must be won, and colonialism over the world must be abolished," said Prof. Sudarnoto.

Sharp Criticism of International Institutions

In his statement, Prof. Sudarnoto also gave a harsh criticism of international bodies which were considered to have failed to carry out their functions. He mentioned the inequality in the "peaceful" narrative which was often sung but did not side with Palestinian sovereignty.

MUI invites all Muslims and the world community who uphold the values of humanity not to tire of voicing justice. Solidarity and humanitarian assistance must continue to be strengthened, while diplomatic pressure on Israel's aggression needs to be massively increased.

"The tragedy in Palestine is not only a political issue, but a universal moral and humanitarian issue that requires a firm global response," he concluded.
