KARAWANG - Karawang Regent, Aep Syaepuloh, will impose sanctions on nightclubs that continue to operate during the holy month of Ramadan. They are threatened with the revocation of their permits.

"We will not allow any form of night entertainment (to operate) during the holy month of Ramadan," said Aep Syaepuloh in Karawang, quoted by ANTARA on Monday, February 16.

The implementation of the ban on the operation of night entertainment venues (THM) was an agreement from a coordination meeting attended by various parties, including representatives of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Karawang.

The provision prohibiting THM operations is contained in the Circular Letter of the Regent of Karawang Number: 267 of 2026 concerning the Appeal during Ramadan 1447 H/2026 M.

Meanwhile, the types of THM referred to in the provision are discos, nightclubs, spas/massage parlors, and karaoke venues.

"I emphasize this time, entertainment venues that violate the provisions during the month of Ramadan, we will withdraw their operating permits," he said.

Along with the implementation of the provisions, the regent instructed that the closure of THM be carried out from H-1 before fasting until H+3 after Eid al-Fitr.

He emphasized that he was ready to give warnings to entrepreneurs who tried to be stubborn because the sanctions imposed could be in the form of revocation of operational permits.

Head of the Karawang Police Pamong Praja Unit (Satpol PP) Basuki Rachmat said the closure or prohibition of THM operations in Ramadan applies for one full month.

To ensure that the rules or regulations are obeyed, supervision will be carried out regularly, especially at night and weekends.

"Later, the joint patrol will involve Satpol PP elements and other related officials," he said.
