PLN Provides 109 APAR in Tambora, Targets Fire-prone Points of Dense Residential Areas

JAKARTA - The risk of fire in the densely populated Tambora settlement, West Jakarta, has again been highlighted. PT PLN (Persero) UID Jakarta Raya distributed 109 units of Light Fire Extinguishing Equipment (APAR), checked the electrical installation, and issued 25 Certificate of Legal Operation (SLO) for residents, Sunday (15/2).

The program entitled Disaster-Ready Village is carried out together with the DKI Jakarta BPBD, the Gulkarmat Office, and the city government. The focus is not on ceremonies, but on minimizing the chances of fires from the beginning - from house to house - in densely populated areas with incident records.

General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin emphasized that this step is not just a distribution of tools. "PLN not only ensures reliable electricity supply, but also electrical safety education... strengthens a culture of safety awareness," said Andy in a written statement.

In terms of mitigation, SLO and installation checks are crucial points. In the building meeting area, careless installation and use of electricity can turn into triggers. Therefore, PLN also prepares technical education so that residents know the vulnerable points, how to prevent, and what to do when a fire occurs.

The DKI Jakarta BPBD considers cross-agency synergy to be important to reduce risk. Head of the BPBD DKI Jakarta Disaster Data and Information Center, Mohamad Yohan, said that the readiness of tools and understanding of mitigation determines the magnitude of the impact of the fire.

In addition to APAR and SLO, PLN handed over 1 disaster standby post tent for emergency response. The activity was equipped with two socialization: electrical safety materials by PLN, and fire handling by Damkar Tambora, including the practice of using APAR and evacuation procedures.
