JAKARTA - PTPN III (Persero) Subholding, PTPN IV PalmCo also anticipate the escalation of annual disaster threats, especially Forest and Land Fires (Karhutla) at the beginning of 2026, by strengthening the national mitigation strategy through cross-sectoral collaboration. PTPN IV PalmCo collaborates with the TNI and Polri in a series of integrated exercises and emergency response simulations across all work units.
PTPN IV PalmCo President Director Jatmiko K. Santosa assessed that this synergy is crucial considering the complexity of disaster handling in Indonesia which requires speed of response and accuracy of coordination. As a state-owned entity that manages national plantation assets, said Jatmiko, PTPN IV PalmCo places disaster mitigation as the main priority in maintaining environmental and operational stability.
He also emphasized that the company's strategy in dealing with potential disasters is now based on aggressive prevention and monitoring digitization.
"We want to ensure that Karhutla can be prevented before it spreads. With technology-based monitoring and the readiness of teams in the field, we hope that there will be no more major incidents that will harm the community and the environment," Jatmiko told reporters, Saturday, February 14.
In this national mitigation scheme, Jatmiko revealed that the company has activated an integrated digital monitoring system, which he calls Artificial Intelligence Fire Monitoring Integrated Ground Checking Nusantara (ARFINA). This technology allows for real-time and precise detection of hotspots.
"Digital monitoring systems such as ARFINA continue to be optimized to detect early hotspots in the company's work area. We believe that investing in prevention systems is more effective than relying solely on handling when the fire has grown," he explained.
Apart from technology, the readiness of physical infrastructure is also strengthened. Jatmiko ensures the availability of ponds and water storage ponds at various vital points as a logistics reserve for emergency extinguishing.
"With the systems and resources we have, we want to show that PTPN can be a pioneer in environmental protection," added Jatmiko.
PTPN IV PalmCo through one of its Regional which operates in Riau together with Korem 031/Wira Bima and Kodim 0302/Inhu also held a Readiness and Disaster Management Simulation at the Molek Water Garden, Riau some time ago.
The Head of Operations of Korem 031/WB, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Teguh, who was present to directly review the readiness of the troops, emphasized that the key to the success of disaster management lies in the solidity of the joint team.
"Disaster management cannot be done alone. It requires mutual readiness, quick communication, and solid coordination between agencies. We designed this exercise to ensure that all elements are ready to move in an integrated manner in the field," said Lieutenant Colonel Inf Teguh.
On this occasion, Teguh gave special appreciation for the concrete support of PTPN IV PalmCo. He assessed that the deployment of the company's capabilities - from trained personnel, adequate firefighting equipment, to the ARFINA digital system - has become a vital asset that has long been the mainstay of the region to minimize the impact of disasters, especially Karhutla.
In line with this, the Commander of Kodim (Dandim) 0302/Inhu, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Bangun Bara, added that this joint exercise has a strategic dimension beyond the technical aspects of extinguishing.
"This exercise is an important means to unite the mindset, steps, and actions of all stakeholders in facing the annual threat of frequent disasters," said Lieutenant Colonel Inf Bangun Bara.
Furthermore, he assessed the active involvement of PTPN IV PalmCo showed the strategic position of the state-owned enterprise. As a state-owned entity, PalmCo's high commitment to disaster prevention is considered by Bangun Bara as a form of responsibility that has a direct impact on the safety of the wider community.
Through the combination of cutting-edge technology from PTPN IV PalmCo and structured command from the TNI-Polri, it is hoped that the potential for disasters in 2026 can be suppressed as little as possible, maintaining environmental sustainability as well as national security.
