JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will build a Pedestrian Crossing Bridge (JPO) that connects the Jakarta International Stadium with the Ancol tourist area in the near future.

The existence of the JPO will later be a strategic step in transforming Jakarta into a global city by placing connectivity, safety and pedestrian comfort.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung had officially laid the first stone (groundbreaking) of the Orang Crossing Bridge (JPO). Designed as an extension of the JIS architecture, the JPO JIS-Ancol adopts the visual language of the stadium in its entirety.

The exterior of the JPO building is themed on Betawi local wisdom, inspired by the typical Betawi headgear which symbolizes unity, the Gigi Balang ornament as a symbol of honesty and courage, and the tiger's claw pattern which represents strength.

This approach ensures the visual harmony of the area while affirming Jakarta's identity as a modern global city rooted in local values.

"The design of the JPO JIS-Ancol adopts the main visual elements of the stadium, creating a flow of space that merges from the JIS area to the Ancol coast," said Jakpro's Managing Director, Iwan Takwin when confirmed, Saturday, February 14, 2026.

At night, he continued, the JPO will be equipped with an integrated lighting system with a stadium lighting scheme, presenting an iconic visual landscape in northern Jakarta.

As a BUMD that carries out the strategic assignment of city development, Jakpro ensures that the JPO JIS - Ancol is designed and built based on global city connectivity standards.

The principles of intermodal integration, walkability, safety, comfort, and universal accessibility are the main foundation for planning.

This approach is in line with the best practices of world cities which place pedestrian infrastructure as a key element of a sustainable urban mobility system, while strengthening last-mile connectivity in the strategic area of North Jakarta.

Functionally, this JPO plays an important role in managing the large flow of visitors.

As a multipurpose stadium that hosts international concerts and prestigious sports events, JIS requires secure and efficient connectivity to parking lots and tourist destinations.

JPO JIS - Ancol responds to this need and strengthens the image of the area as an integrated sports and entertainment center with facility standards equivalent to major cities in the world.

Regional connectivity is increasingly optimal through the integration of public transportation - from KRL, Transjakarta, to parking area support in Ancol - which facilitates public and tourist access.

"With integrated connectivity, local and foreign visitors can enjoy a seamless experience when attending large-scale events in Jakarta, while supporting various strategic agendas of the city," he said.

With a length of 466 meters, JPO JIS-Ancol is expected to become a new icon of North Jakarta and strengthen the position of the JIS-Ancol area as an international center for sports, entertainment, and tourism activities.
