JAKARTA - The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, said his party had disbursed a budget of Rp. 32.1 trillion for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program at the beginning of 2026.
"Today, BGN has disbursed Rp. 32.1 trillion. There is no history of the ministry that has disbursed such a large amount for 1.5 months. 70 percent of the budget is for raw materials, 20 percent for operations, including the salaries of SPPG employees, and 10 percent for incentives for partners," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 13.
Dadan said based on the study of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2025, every Rp1 spent by BGN will grow the economy approximately seven times.
"Based on the World Bank's prediction, investment in nutrition will return 23 times in the long term, so our investment with MBG will later have a high return," he said.
According to him, MBG is also able to boost Gross Domestic Product (GDP) through household consumption, investment, and government spending.
Dadan explained that this year, the BGN budget was recorded at Rp. 286 trillion with a reserve fund of Rp. 67 trillion, so it reached Rp. 335 trillion, and 93 percent of the budget was channeled by BGN through the KPPN directly to the SPPG in each province.
"The money that flows to them (SPPG) every month is Rp. 1 billion, 70 percent for raw materials, 20 percent for employees, and 10 percent for their incentives to build SPPG," he said.
Not only that, through the MBG Program, the need for all food materials also began to rise, because for one SPPG alone, for example, for one meal, it requires as many as 3,000 bananas.
"Hydroponic farmers, factory employees know that they are also starting to recover. The demand for milk is also increasing, because one SPPG in one day needs 450 liters of milk, there are already many milk entrepreneurs who have cold storage (refrigerators) that are prepared to support MBG," said Dadan.
Dadan said that investing in nutrition is one way to realize a smart economy. Therefore, BGN now plays a role in two things, namely creating demand and guaranteeing the purchase of all existing products.
"BGN now plays a role in two things, creating demand, which has the same meaning, but the food given to the beneficiaries is food they have never eaten, while ensuring the purchase of all existing products, with this MBG, jobs are created, because one SPPG requires 50 people and there must be suppliers," he said.
According to him, through MBG, new entrepreneurs grow which increase the productivity of local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
