JAKARTA - The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana said that 60 percent of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) employees are now able to buy a motorcycle from the results of working as employees who help make the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program a success.

"The MBG program not only targets (perpetrators) of agricultural products such as raw materials (which benefit from MBG), but based on data from motor vehicle companies, the sales figure for motorcycles reached 4.9 million in 2025 which was boosted by MBG. In SPPG, 60 percent of its employees can buy a motorcycle," he said in the Indonesia Economic Outlook 2026 reported by ANTARA, Friday, February 13.

Not only that, through the MBG Program, the need for all food materials also began to rise, because for one SPPG alone, for example, for one meal, it requires as many as 3,000 bananas.

"Hydroponic farmers, factory employees know that they are also starting to recover. The demand for milk is also increasing, because one SPPG in one day needs 450 liters of milk, there are already many milk entrepreneurs who have cold storage (refrigerators) that are prepared to support MBG," said Dadan.

He also explained that the population of Indonesia was born from parents who had an average of only nine years of education. Therefore, MBG is important because 60 percent of Indonesian children do not have access to balanced nutrition and never drink milk.

"This program is beginning to gain recognition from economists, because MBG is a new economic approach to development in Indonesia, there has never been an economy in Indonesia that has encouraged production growth while ensuring purchases," he explained.

Dadan also conveyed that investment in the economy is one way to realize a smart economy. Therefore, BGN now plays a role in two things, namely creating demand and guaranteeing the purchase of all existing products.

"BGN now plays a role in two things, creating demand, which has the same meaning, but the food given to the beneficiaries is food they have never eaten, while ensuring the purchase of all existing products, with this MBG, jobs are created, because one SPPG requires 50 people and there must be suppliers," he said.

According to him, through MBG, new entrepreneurs grow which increase the productivity of local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
