Premature Baby Abandoned in Bekasi Apartment Is Declared Dead

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya revealed that the baby who was thrown by the alleged perpetrators in an apartment in Bekasi on Monday, February 9, 2021, was declared dead.

"That the baby found this morning died, in a condition of premature birth at 5 months old," said Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, Wednesday.

Budi said the information was based on information from the hospital doctor. Currently, investigators are still investigating, including the identity of the two perpetrators who are suspected of being the parents of the baby.

"What is certain is that the person concerned is a couple in a non-marital bond," he said.

Regarding the motive of the perpetrators to throw the baby, Budi said that investigators were still investigating because the motive could change.

"Because the initial information is that the child accidentally went out while the person concerned was in the toilet. Well, this gives room, we also respect other public spaces because there is a soul lost in the incident," said Budi.

Polda Metro Jaya has arrested the alleged perpetrator who threw a baby in an apartment in the Bekasi area on Monday, February 9, 2026.

"For the alleged perpetrators, they have been secured in two different locations, namely in the West Jakarta area," said Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto when met in Jakarta, Tuesday (10/2).

However, Budi has not explained in detail the case because it is in the process of being handled by the Bekasi Metro Police.

He also said that the discovery of the baby who was found alive and still had a umbilical cord had been handled by the Bekasi Regional Hospital.

"The police have coordinated with the Social Service, including the Regional General Hospital in fulfilling the health of the baby," he said.
