JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) explained the reason why the Deputy Attorney General for Civil and State Administration (Jamdatun) R. Narendra Jatna did not attend the pretrial hearing regarding the extradition of Paulus Tannos in Singapore as an expert.

Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office, Anang Supriatna, said that the Attorney General ST Burhanuddin appointed Jamdatun R. Narendra Jatna to act as an expert from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia on the recommendation of the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) of Singapore.

At the beginning of December 2025, he said, Jamdatun submitted a legal opinion to the court in the form of an affidavit.

"The affidavit, written statement, was accepted by the court as evidence around December 3 (2025)," he said in Jakarta, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.

Then, in January 2026, a cross examination was carried out with the opinion of the expert from the Paulus Tannos party, namely the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Indonesia (UI) Prof. Eva Achjani Zulfa.

During the trial, Eva confirmed Jamdatun's statement that Tannos' actions were a criminal act of corruption.

"From Prof. Eva's statement, it confirms that bribery is not a corruption crime and others, then confirms the written statement submitted by the government. In line with his statement, Mr. Jamdatun, this act is a corruption act," he said.

Because the court was satisfied with the testimony of the experts, which basically confirmed the existence of dual criminality, the court agreed that there was no need to conduct cross-examination of Jamdatun.

"It means it has been confirmed. So, there is no need to check Mr. Narendra (Jamdatun). Mr. Narendra's written statement is used as evidence by the court," he said.

Previously, on August 13, 2019, the KPK named Paulus Tannos as a suspect in the development of the investigation into the KTP-electronic (KTP-el) case, which is suspected of causing losses to the state treasury of up to IDR 2.3 trillion.

However, Paulus Tannos fled abroad and changed his identity. He was then put on the anti-corruption commission's wanted list (DPO) or fugitive since October 19, 2021.

On October 31, 2025, Paulus Tannos filed a pretrial lawsuit to the South Jakarta District Court (PN) with case number 143/Pid.Pra/2025/PN JKT.SEL.

On December 2, 2025, the panel of judges at the Jaksel PN rejected the pretrial application filed by Paulus Tannos.

Paulus Tannos then filed a pretrial again on January 28, 2026 to the PN Jaksel with case number 11/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL.
