JAKARTA - The South East Sulawesi (Sultra) Police have arrested a dealer of methamphetamine who operates in the Kendari City area, South East Sulawesi.
Director of Resnarkoba Polda Sultra Kombes Pol Amri Yudhy Syamsualam Rama Wispha said the operation to arrest the drug dealer with the initials RWM (26) was carried out in the Baruga District, Kendari City, on Monday (9/2) at around 17.00 Wita.
"In the disclosure, the police secured a man with the initials RWM (26) along with evidence of 65 grams of crude methamphetamine," said Amri Yudhy in Kendari, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.
He said the arrest began with information from the community who were uneasy about the illegal circulation of methamphetamine in the Baruga area, Kendari. Armed with the report, his party then sent a team to investigate.
"During the investigation, the team obtained the identity of the suspected dealer, and was successfully secured in a two-story boarding house in the Baruga area," he said.
Amri revealed that from the results of the interrogation of the perpetrator, it was found that he still kept methamphetamine at a house near the crime scene (TKP) of the arrest.
"The team then carried out development and searches which were witnessed by two local residents," said Amri.
He said that during the search of the house, the police found a black cloth bag containing four small packets of crystal methamphetamine with a gross weight of around 65 grams. In addition, a number of other non-narcotic evidence was also secured.
"The evidence seized includes one mobile phone unit, one digital scale, dozens of empty plastic bags of various sizes, a spoon of methamphetamine from a pipette, tissue, and a box of spark plug packaging that is suspected of being used in the distribution of narcotics," he continued.
Amri explained that the perpetrator admitted that he had obtained methamphetamine from someone who is currently under investigation by the police.
"Currently, the suspect and all the evidence have been secured at the Sultra Police Narcotics Division to undergo further investigation," he said.
For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustment, with a threat of a heavy criminal penalty.
