The Government Sets the School Holiday Schedule During Ramadan and Idulfitri 2026

JAKARTA - The government officially set a holiday for all school students during Ramadan and Idulfitri 2026.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Pratikno said that the regulation of learning in schools during Ramadan 2026 focuses on strengthening religious values, character formation, and the fulfillment of the rights of students to learn in a balanced manner.

"Ramadan is a character education momentum. Therefore, our learning is directed to strengthen religious values according to the religion and beliefs of the students, as well as to cultivate social awareness and positive habits," said Pratikno, quoted Tuesday, February 10.

Pratikno emphasized that learning during Ramadan is not only directed at the academic aspect, but also becomes a strategic momentum to strengthen the faith, piety, noble morals, and social character of Indonesian children.

In its regulations, he said, the government encourages the strengthening of religious material that is tailored to the religion of each student.

For Muslim students, he continued, activities can be in the form of Al-Qur'an recitation, flash boarding, Islamic studies, and other activities that support the strengthening of faith, piety, and noble morals.

Then for non-Muslim religious students, it is facilitated through spiritual guidance and other religious activities according to their respective beliefs.

In addition to strengthening religion, he said, learning during Ramadan is also directed to strengthen the character of students through various social and educational activities.

The activities include sharing takjil, distributing zakat and compensation, religious competitions such as adzan competition, Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ), religious intelligence, and various other positive activities.

"We want children to learn empathy, mutual cooperation, and social concern. Ramadan is child-friendly and must be filled with activities that build character, including the Indonesian Children's Seven Great Habits Movement, a one-hour movement without gadgets, and other positive activities," he said.

In addition, Pratikno also explained that his party had agreed on a scheme for learning holidays during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026.
