Banjarbaru asks for support for the revitalization of cultural heritage, the Minister of Culture and Tourism encourages the "Living Museum" to be open

Banjarbaru Mayor Erna Lisa Halaby brought a list of cultural homework to Jakarta. In a meeting with Culture Minister Fadli Zon at the Ministry of Culture Office, Friday, February 6, he asked for support to strengthen cultural heritage and the development of creative economy based on culture in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan.

Erna Lisa emphasized that the preservation of cultural heritage sites must be accelerated so that they do not disappear, including the arrangement of historical areas which are considered to have important value. He also encouraged the strengthening of cultural villages and creative villages, as well as the empowerment of art and culture actors to the level of sub-district. In addition, Banjarbaru targets the preservation of intangible cultural heritage and packaging a more integrated cultural agenda so that local cultural regeneration runs and cultural people have a living space.

One of the ideas that was pushed was a living museum or an open museum to strengthen the attraction of cultural tourism. Erna Lisa said this concept requires the revitalization of cultural heritage as a priority.

Fadli Zon responded by opening the door of support, especially for the concept of an open museum. "We will certainly continue to support, especially regarding the idea of establishing an open living museum. In principle, museums do not always have to be blocked by walls, but can also be in the form of an open space or open air," said Fadli. He emphasized that the arrangement and concept of the exhibition remained crucial so that the cultural narrative was conveyed intact and interesting.

Fadli added that culture also includes traditional and local technological wisdom that lives in society. Therefore, the development of museums and cultural areas is expected to be integrated with the traditions and lives of residents. "We can work together, the concept of revitalization will be collaborated with related agencies, of course by seeing its suitability with the duties and functions of cultural development," he said.

In the meeting, Erna Lisa was accompanied by the Chairman of the Banjarbaru Creative Economy Committee, Riandy Hidayat. From the ministry, there were, among others, the Expert Staff of the Minister of Culture and Industry, Anindita Kusuma Listya, the Special Staff for Cultural Diplomacy and International Relations, Annisa Rengganis, and the Director of Digital Culture Development, Andi Syamsu Rijal.
