BOGOR - The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Fadli Zon conveyed the plan to compile the history of the great kingdoms of Nusantara when attending the inauguration of an exhibition at the Pajajaran Museum, Bogor City, Thursday, February 5. The program is targeted to be realized this year as part of efforts to strengthen national historical literacy.

Fadli said the government was preparing to form a special team involving academics and historians to draft a comprehensive history text.

"God willing, this year we will soon form a team for writing history. We hope to realize the writing of the history of several major kingdoms in the archipelago," said Fadli when met in Bogor.

He explained that writing would begin from the Majapahit Kingdom, then Pajajaran, to Samudra Pasai. According to him, a complete historical documentation is needed so that the public can obtain credible scientific references regarding the journey of the nation's civilization.

For the Pajajaran Kingdom, Fadli targeted the birth of a complete manuscript about Pakuan Pajajaran which not only contains political aspects, but also describes the life of the community as a whole.

"Hopefully, there will be one complete manuscript about the Pakuan Pajajaran Kingdom, at least describing all aspects of life in its entirety, from its history, its works, its cultural expression, to its social and economic life," he explained.

He added that the book is expected to be the main reference for the public, students, and researchers. Its preparation will involve historians and scientists from various disciplines with a multidisciplinary approach.

"We hope that this will become a reference book, written by historians and scientists with a multidisciplinary approach, so that the results are comprehensive and can be held accountable academically," said Fadli.

Fadli menilai kehadiran buku itu menjadi fondasi penting sebelum penyusunan sejarah tematik kerajaan-kerajaan Nusantara dilakukan secara lebih mendalam.

"On that basis, we can take a step further to compile the history of the great kingdoms in more detail and integrated," he concluded.

Previously, as part of strengthening national historical literacy, the Ministry of Culture has also completed the book History of Indonesia: National Dynamics in Global Currents by the end of 2025.

The book reviews the long journey of Indonesian history, from the early phase of the Nusantara civilization to the latest developments in the post-reform era.

The work was published in 10 volumes and was compiled through a writing process for one year. The compilation involved the collaboration of 123 historians from 34 universities in Indonesia, consisting of writers, editors of each volume, and general editors.
