JAKARTA - The White House announced on Tuesday that US special envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, would attend trilateral negotiations with Russia and Ukraine in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi.

"Witkoff and Jared Kushner's special envoys will be in Abu Dhabi tomorrow for another round of trilateral talks," White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told Fox News.

Noting that the latest trilateral talks held in late January "were historic in nature", Leavitt claimed that the three countries had never "really been able to sit down at the negotiating table to advance peace".

"So, special envoy, Jared Kushner, and President Donald Trump have realized something that was previously considered impossible regarding peace in the Middle East, and I know they are trying to do the same regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war," he said.

The latest round of trilateral talks, which lasted more than three hours, was held in Abu Dhabi on January 24 and was attended by officials from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States.

The US delegation was represented by Witkoff, Kushner, and Josh Gruenbaum, along with Army Secretary Dan Driscoll and Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, commander of US European Command.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian delegation consists of the Chief of Staff of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Kyrylo Budanov, National Security Advisor Rustem Umerov, and Chief of the Military Staff General Andrii Hnatov, along with advisers Sergiy Kyslytsya and Davyd Arakhamia.

The Russian team is led by Admiral Igor Kostyukov, head of Russian military intelligence.
