Megawati: Kapan Indonesia Punya Kapolri Seperti Pak Hoegeng?

JAKARTA - The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri hopes that Indonesia can have a figure of the National Police Chief like the former National Police Chief General (Ret.) Hoegeng Iman Santoso.

This was conveyed by him after expressing his deep condolences for the death of the wife of former National Police Chief General (Ret.) Hoegeng Iman Santoso, Meriyanti Roeslani or Eyang Meri today. Initially, he called the loss of a simple figure like the two of them.

"When will Indonesia have a National Police Chief like Mr. Hoegeng again," Megawati asked, as quoted from her statement, Tuesday, February 3.

Megawati then advised the Hoegeng family that they should be role models. The police must be clean, protect, and care for the people.

"I have personal experience several times meeting on the road when I was going to college from my house on Jalan Sriwijaya with Pak Hoegeng who was riding a bicycle in the Kapori's royal clothes. So simple, Pak Hoegeng didn't have his own house at that time," said the PDIP General Chair.

"As a citizen and admirer of Mr. Hoegeng, I feel very lost that figures like the National Police Chief like Mr. Hoegeng and Tante Meri have played a very big role in supporting Mr. Hoegeng to become a simple National Police Chief and loved by his people," continued Megawati.

Megawati expressed deep condolences to Eyang Meri.

"I express my deep condolences and sorrow because Mr. Hoegeng's family is like my own family. I myself greet Mrs. Hoegeng with the greeting of Aunt Meri," he said.

"Aunt Meri is a very good wife and mother. Both are warm and have a high artistic soul and have a Hawaiian Senior band group."
