Daan Mogot Flood Subscription, Pramono Will Build a 2 Kilometer Flyover

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the DKI Provincial Government will build a flyover or flyover along 2 kilometers on Jalan Daan Mogot, West Jakarta in the future.

This flyover, according to Pramono, is needed for the area because Jalan Daan Mogot is often affected by flooding due to heavy rain hitting Jakarta.

"I am thinking about whether it is necessary to make a flyover at this place. The length may be more than 2 kilometers," said Pramono in Daan Mogot, West Jakarta, Tuesday, February 3.

Pramono ordered the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office to prepare a development plan, from design to finding a construction contractor for the flyover. This infrastructure, he continued, will be a long-term solution, in addition to reactive flood control carried out during heavy rainfall.

"Because in this place, as soon as the rainfall is 100 millimeters, the Mookervart River will definitely spill onto the road in the mogot," said Pramono.

In addition, a flyover in Daan Mogot is also needed to disperse the traffic density that regularly occurs at the location. Traffic jams also increase when the road section is flooded. Later, these vehicles can avoid puddles by crossing the flyover.

"So, this project may indeed be my task to finish what is unfinished. Including in this place from 2022, hopefully in 2027 it will be completed as a whole," explained Pramono.

On that occasion, Pramono also reviewed the construction of the polder system and the Daan Mogot pump house in West Jakarta. This project is part of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's efforts to address the flooding problem that often hits the area, especially during high-intensity rain.

Pramono emphasized that the construction of polders and pumping houses was not merely an infrastructure project, but was directed to have a direct impact on the surrounding residents who had been affected by flooding.

"The construction of the polder system and the pump house in Daan Mogot is our concrete step in overcoming the flooding problem that has occurred so far. We want to ensure that the system built is truly optimal and has a direct impact on reducing puddles," said Pramono.

The construction is carried out at four points along Jalan Daan Mogot, precisely in the Kedaung Kali Angke and Cengkareng Timur Kelurahan areas, Cengkareng District. This area is known as one of the vulnerable points of flooding in West Jakarta, especially on the north side of the road.

According to Pramono, this condition is the main reason why the Daan Mogot area is included in the priority of flood handling through the construction of pump houses and supporting channels.

"The area along Jalan Daan Mogot, especially the north side of the road, is a priority because it often experiences puddles. Therefore, the construction of pump houses and supporting channels is focused on protecting residential areas and infrastructure in this area," he said.

"The presence of the Daan Mogot Pump is expected to be able to reduce the pressure on other polders so that flood handling in West Jakarta becomes more effective," he added.
