JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto plans to check directly the learning and teaching activities in classrooms in various regions of Indonesia through the use of interactive flat panels (IFP) or smart whiteboards.

The plan was conveyed by the president in front of regional heads and central government officials during the 2026 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) between the Central Government and Regional Government which was held at the SICC, Bogor Regency, West Java, Monday, February 2.

Prabowo revealed that until now the government has distributed 282,180 units of smart whiteboards to schools throughout Indonesia, including in the leading, outermost, and lagging areas (3T).

"Almost all schools, including the outermost and most remote, have received smart boards. In remote islands and the highest mountains, they already have interactive panels," said Prabowo.

The President targets that every school has at least three smart whiteboard units. The addition of these devices is expected to be fully realized by 2026.

"This year my target is that every school can get two more so that there are at least three classrooms. Hopefully it can be four. At the end of 2028-2029, every classroom in Indonesia will have an interactive digital panel," said Prabowo.

According to him, the digitization of the classroom allows the learning process to be carried out remotely from the center, especially to overcome the limitations of subject teachers, such as mathematics, English, physics, and biology in the region.

"We can teach from Jakarta interactively. Schools that lack teachers can receive teaching from the center. In the end, I can also see directly whether the teacher is in the classroom or not," he said.

Digitalization of the classroom is one of President Prabowo's priority programs that has been running since 2025. In addition to distributing smart whiteboards, the president also ordered the renovation of tens of thousands of schools in various regions of Indonesia.

On a separate occasion, the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti stated that the government plans to add up to three IFP units so that each school will have four smart whiteboards.

Abdul Mu'ti assessed that the existence of IFP would make it easier for teachers in the learning process because it was able to create a more interactive and interesting learning atmosphere for students.

IFP is different from conventional smart boards because it is an all-in-one device that functions as a monitor, computer, and interactive digital whiteboard. This device can be used without an internet connection, with learning materials that can be downloaded through the Student Room channel on the Rumah Pendidikan platform.
