JAKARTA - A total of 11 Indonesian short films will be featured at the 2026 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (CFISFF), the world's most influential short film event. Another project entered the international collaboration pitching forum. The government considers this momentum crucial to penetrate the global market.

The Indonesian delegation was supported by the Ministry of Culture through the National Talent Management Program for Cultural Arts. The curation process involves Minikino Film Week. The focus of the presence is not only the competition, but also the market, industry networks, and cross-country production partnerships.

Minister of Culture Fadli Zon emphasized that this participation is a strategic step to strengthen the position of Indonesian short films. "Our business is not only to compete, but to build networks, open market access, and expand international collaboration," he said in a press statement received by VOI, Monday (2/2).

CFISFF 2026 will be held from January 30 to February 7, with the Short Film Market on February 2-5. The festival brings filmmakers, curators, distributors, and industry players together through competitions, market screenings, and professional forums.

Indonesia is involved in international competition programs, Southeast Asian curation, market screening, and talent development platforms such as Talent Connexion. This involvement shows the variety of Indonesian short film approaches while opening up opportunities for sustainable projects.

This year, Southeast Asia for the first time became the focus of attention. The government sees it as a gap to expand regional exposure and strengthen cultural diplomacy based on creative industries.
