JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto plans to check directly the learning activities in classrooms in various regions of Indonesia using smart/interactive flat panel (IFP) whiteboard devices that have currently been distributed to a number of schools.
In front of regional heads and central government officials, President Prabowo announced that the government has currently distributed 282,180 smart whiteboards to various schools in Indonesia, including in the leading, outermost, and lagging areas (3T).
"Almost all schools, including the outermost and remote ones, which are left behind, have received (smart boards), in remote islands, in the highest mountains, they already have interactive panels," said President Prabowo at the 2026 National Coordination Meeting of the Central Government and Regional Government at the SICC, Bogor Regency, West Java, Monday, February 2 as reported by ANTARA.
The President targets that each school has at least three smart whiteboard units. The addition of smart whiteboards is targeted to be realized by 2026.
"This year, my goal is that every school can get at least two more, so that they can have three classrooms. Hopefully, four classrooms. At the end of 2028-2029, every classroom in Indonesia will have an interactive digital panel. What does it mean? We can teach from Jakarta. Schools that have fewer teachers, fewer math teachers, fewer English teachers, physics teachers, biology teachers, we can receive teaching from the center, interactive. I actually later, in the end, I can see if the teacher's classroom is there or not," said the President.
The digitization of classrooms in schools is one of President Prabowo's priority programs that has been implemented since 2025. Not only distributing smart whiteboards, the President also ordered his staff to immediately renovate tens of thousands of schools in various regions of Indonesia.
On a separate occasion, the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti stated that the government plans to add up to three IFP units so that each school has four smart whiteboard units.
Abdul Mu'timeyakini believes that the smart blackboard will make it easier for teachers in learning activities, because the tool can create a more interactive and interesting learning atmosphere for students.
IFP itself is different from a normal smart board, because IFP is an all-in-one device that functions as a monitor, computer, and interactive digital whiteboard. The device can be used without an internet connection, with learning materials that can be downloaded through the Student Room channel on the Rumah Pendidikan platform.
