JAKARTA - The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has given vaccines and vitamins to the joint SAR team tasked with searching for victims of a landslide in Pasirlangu Village, Cisarua District, West Bandung Regency, West Java.

Head of the Bandung SAR Office Ade Dian said this step was taken to prevent exposure to viruses and bacteria that could potentially come from the landslide material and the victim's body.

"So, we can get help from the Ministry of Health and the Health Office regarding the health conditions of the joint SAR team. This means that there are vitamins and vaccines, this is very important for the searchers," said Ade in West Bandung, Friday, quoted by Antara.

Ade said that in addition to vaccination and vitamin administration, medical personnel were also alerted in every search sector to anticipate emergency conditions that personnel might experience during the operation.

"In this field there is potential, so the Health Office has deployed a team of doctors or health at each search site so that when something happens they can immediately help," he said.

Ade added, the West Bandung Regency Government proposed that the search operation be carried out for 14 days, with an evaluation on the seventh day, Friday, January 30, to determine whether it needs to be extended.

"So, we from the joint SAR team follow the provisions. There will be an evaluation whether the extension or how. If before seven days all the victims have been found, it can be stopped, depending on the search results," he said.

Based on the latest data on Thursday, January 29 at 18.30 WIB, the joint SAR team until the end of the sixth day had evacuated 55 bags of bodies, while about 25 other victims were still being searched.

The identification process by the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team of the West Java Police is also continuing, with 41 bags of bodies having been successfully identified.

The search operation is focused on sectors that are mapped as the most severely affected areas, while anticipating the potential for subsequent landslides due to still unstable soil conditions and extreme weather.
