Russia Urges US-Iran to Hold Talks and Avoid Use of Force

Russia said on Thursday there was still room for negotiations between Iran and the United States, warning any use of force against Tehran would have dangerous consequences and cause chaos across the Middle East.

The comments by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov came a day after US President Donald Trump urged Iran to sit at the negotiating table and make a deal on nuclear weapons or face the possibility of a US attack.

"We continue to call on all parties to refrain and reject the use of any violence to resolve problems," he said, launching Al Arabiya from Reuters (30/1).

"Obviously, the potential for negotiations is far from exhausted. We must focus primarily on the negotiation mechanism," he continued.

"Any act of violence will only create chaos in the region and cause very dangerous consequences in terms of destabilization of the security system throughout the region," Peskov said.

It is known that Russia has established closer ties with Iran since the start of the war in Ukraine and signed a 20-year strategic partnership agreement with Iran in January 2025.
