Palestine at the UN Security Council Summit: Disaster in Gaza Despite the Ceasefire, the Core Principle of the Founding of the UN Collapsed!

JAKARTA - The Ambassador of Palestine to the United Nations (UN), Riyad Mansourn, emphasized the core principles of the establishment of the UN collapsed in the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel.

He said that although thousands of lives had been saved by the ceasefire agreement, as many as 500 Palestinians had been killed in Gaza since the Israel-Hamas agreement was agreed in October 2025.

Israel has also not ended a number of attempts to hinder humanitarian aid from entering Gaza, a situation that endangers the health and safety of Palestinian residents in Gaza.

According to Mansourn, the current situation is an unprecedented humanitarian disaster in Gaza.

Speaking at a high-level meeting (Summit) of the UN Security Council (UNSC) on Wednesday local time, quoted from AN, Mansour warned that if the right to self-determination, the prohibition of the occupation of territory by force, and respect for international law were abandoned in connection with what was experienced in Palestine, it would endanger the core principles of the founding of the UN around the world.

"To leave it [the core principle of the founding of the UN] there, means to endanger it everywhere," he told council members.

Mansour then responded positively to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza initiated by the US. He also praised the role of the Government of President Donald Trump and other international mediators.

However, behind the good intentions of the Palestinians, Mansour stressed that Israel repeatedly violated the points of the ceasefire.

He questioned what justice meant for Palestinian families whose relatives had been killed or were still missing under the rubble, or who had suffered long-term displacement, trauma, and injuries, as a ceasefire saw hundreds of people still killed in Gaza by Israeli attacks.

"The suffering of Palestinian civilians - men, women and children - must be ended with the same urgency," he said.

He then questioned the full implementation of the obligation of a ceasefire, the immediate cessation of killings, and unrestricted humanitarian access throughout Gaza.

Mansourn also condemned Israel for targeting humanitarian organizations, including non-governmental organizations and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), especially when Israel openly confiscates and destroys UNRWA facilities, even banning and expelling aid groups from Palestinian territory.
