Smart Air Plane Allegedly Makes Emergency Landing Due to Failure to Take Off

JAYAPURA - The Nabire Police Chief AKBP Samuel Tatiratu said the cause of the Smart Air aircraft crash of the caravan type PK-SNS to Kaimana, in the Kaladiri logpond, Nabire was suspected of having failed to take off or lost lift (stall).

"It is true that there is a suspicion that the plane had an incident due to loss of lift during take-off. All passengers and crew, which numbered 13 people (not 15 red), survived the incident which occurred on Tuesday (27/1) at around 12.45 WIT," said Nabire Police Chief AKBP Samuel Tatiratu as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 27.

AKBP Tatiratu said the plane with pilot Captain Tania was a plane that served subsidized flights from Nabire to Kaimana.

"Immediately after the incident, all passengers and crew were immediately taken to Nabire Hospital for examination," said Nabire Police Chief AKBP Samuel Tatiratu.

The 11 names of the unfortunate passengers were Yosua Maniba, Yantibus Iyai, Yunus Bastira, Baharudin Rada, Muh Rada, Barandina Awujani, Nonce Bary, Muh Ridho, Iwan, Maria Komboy and Juprianto.
