SALATIGA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring that the development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) runs according to plan. Gibran denied the issue of stalled projects and stated that the progress of development in the field had shown significant progress.
This was conveyed by the Vice President while filling the talkshow "New Direction for National Development" at the Auditorium of Satya Wacana Christian University (UKSW), Salatiga, Central Java, Monday, January 26.
The Vice President explained that the government is currently pursuing the development of other important facilities, namely the legislative and judicial complexes. This facility is a priority so that the wheels of government can move intact.
"No one is stalling at IKN. The development is in accordance with the existing timeline. Our focus now is to complete the construction of the DPR building and the judicial institutions such as the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court, and others," said Gibran in front of the UKSW academic community.
The government is optimistic that all major government infrastructure can be completed by 2028. Thus, central government activities are expected to be effective in the archipelago by 2029.
In a question and answer session with students, the Vice President described IKN not only as a relocation of government offices, but also the development of a new ecosystem that is modern, clean, and free of traffic jams. He emphasized the importance of changing mindsets in welcoming this future city.
"IKN is a very lively city, the air is clean, and God willing, it is safe from disasters. This place is ideal for young people. In addition to office areas, commercial facilities such as supermarkets, entertainment centers, and sports centers will also continue to increase over time," he added.
Gibran also recounted his experience when he directly reviewed the progress of IKN in December 2025 with the president. According to him, intensive inter-agency coordination ensures that development remains on the right track according to the long-term target towards Indonesia Emas 2045.
