JAKARTA - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has revived the Waluya Sejati Abadi Clinic in Sukabumi, West Java, to serve the small community after it had stopped operating due to licensing issues for 15 years.
The inauguration was carried out on Sunday, January 25, coinciding with the series of commemorations of the 53rd Anniversary of the PDIP.
PDIP believes that this momentum is not just a normal inauguration, but a reactivation of the long history of health service in Sukabumi.
Secretary General of the PDIP DPP, Hasto Kristiyanto, said his party put humanity above electoral political calculations. The presence of this clinic is said to be proof of the HUT theme, namely "satyam eva jayate" or 'truth must win'.
"Humanitarian action comes from the clearest conscience. When for humanitarian action alone there are those who hinder, they do not understand the true meaning of humanity. As long as the people suffer, our humanitarian voice speaks far above the calculations of political electoral affairs," said Hasto, quoted from a statement received in Jakarta, Sunday, January 25.
The building that was inaugurated today was formerly known as the Pelita Rakyat Hospital (RSPR). PDIP General Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri inaugurated the RSPR in 2011, but its operations stopped in 2015 due to licensing constraints.
Hasto advised that the Waluya Sejati Abadi Clinic should be a place where people feel humanized.
"The presence of this clinic will be part of the left hand of our party to be progressive in saving the people, while our right hand is a management of service with sincerity without discrimination. In this clinic, people are not asked how rich you are, but people are asked what your disease is," he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the PDIP DPP for Health and initiator of the clinic, Dr. Ribka Tjiptaning Proletariyati, recalled the time when the Waluya Sejati Clinic stopped operating. He recalled his conversation with Megawati at that time.
"I cried to Mega, I said, 'Sister, why is it funny, yes, it's hard to do good for the people. Khan is not asked for money?' Then the chairman of the general meeting just answered simply: 'Neng, you see your grandson learning to walk. Surely the first step he will fall and be injured, but if your grandson does not have the courage to take the first step, there will be no next thousand steps because the first step determines the direction and goal', "said Ribka, imitating Megawati's message.
He admitted that he was sad to see the clinic serving the people again with a cost of Rp. 25,000 for outpatient treatment and Rp. 50,000 for childbirth until returning home. "If he doesn't have money, the PDI Perjuangan DPC pays. Here everyone is served with a smile without discrimination," he said.
On the same occasion, the Mayor of Sukabumi, Ayep Zaki, announced the abolition of all health levies at health centers and clinics as of January 1, 2026.
"The current mayor is committed to resolving the basic rights of the people of Sukabumi City, and that is also in line with the PDI Perjuangan," he said.
