JAKARTA - The West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government (Pemprov) through the Communication, Informatics and Statistics Agency (Kominfotik) reported a gay community group on the Facebook social media platform that was considered disturbing the community to the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) RI.

"Through the Information Security and Security Division, Kominfotik NTB on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, has submitted an online report to the Content Complaint Team of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) RI for review and access termination (take down) in accordance with applicable regulations," said Head of the NTB Kominfotik Office and NTB Provincial Government Spokesperson, Ahsanul Khalik in Mataram, quoted by Antara.

Ahsanul or Aka explained that the reporting was carried out because the groups were observed to actively contain content and interactions that were contrary to religious norms, morality, local culture, and legal provisions in Indonesia. The five Facebook groups that were reported for inspection and action were Gay all (Mataram), Genk Gay Lombok Tengah, Gay Lombok Tengah, Gay Lombok, and Gay Lombok.

Aka said on Friday, January 23, Kominfotik NTB had received an official reply from the Directorate General of Digital Space Supervision Komdigi RI stating that the complaint about the content had entered the examination and verification process.

"If the results of the verification conclude that the reported content is proven to be negative content, then it will be followed up according to the applicable procedures," explained Aka.

In addition to reporting through online channels, Kominfotik NTB also followed up through the formal channel by sending an official letter in the form of a request for termination of access to obscene content to Komdigi RI.

At the same time, he said, the NTB Provincial Government also coordinated with the NTB Police Reskrimsus Directorate to ensure that the handling steps were integrated according to their respective authorities.

Aka emphasized that this step is part of the NTB Provincial Government's commitment to maintaining a healthy, safe, and conducive digital space, as well as protecting the public from content that has the potential to damage social order and values that live in the community.

"The digital space must be a productive, educational, and useful place. Not a place to spread content that damages morals, causes unrest, or opens up room for violations of the law," said Aka.

The NTB Provincial Government also appeals to the public to play an active role in maintaining digital spaces by reporting disturbing accounts, groups, or content through official government channels and reporting features on social media platforms.

The public is asked to be more wise in using social media, not easily sharing content that is not clear, and maintaining digital ethics in accordance with applicable norms and laws.

"Let's take care of NTB together. Don't give space for bad things to enter and develop in our area. Report, don't participate in spreading," he said.
