BOGOR - The Bogor City Government (Pemkot) ensures that the arrangement of urban transportation (angkot) will continue even though the technical age limit of temporary vehicles is stopped while waiting for the issuance of the Mayor's Regulation (Perwali).
Deputy Mayor of Bogor Jenal Mutaqin emphasized that the temporary suspension of enforcement does not mean that the government is relaxing the policy. The city government remains consistent in enforcing the Regional Regulation (Perda) on the technical age limit of public transportation.
"Currently, the Perwali is being processed in the Legal and Human Rights Section. The arrangement is still ongoing, the regulation is still being enforced, only the mechanism is being perfected," said Jenal when receiving the aspirations of drivers and angkot entrepreneurs at the Bogor City Hall, Thursday, January 22.
The regent will regulate the procedure for removing vehicles that are 20 years old through a scheme to convert two old angkot into one newer vehicle, provided that the vehicle is under 15 years old, even under 10 years old.
According to Jenal, the technical age limit rule is not a new policy. The city government had previously granted a two-year grace period from 2023 to December 2025. However, drivers are again asking for adjustments for economic reasons and income needs.
As a solution, the City Government is preparing a reconfiguration of the corridor and angkot routes to be more effective according to passenger needs. The line, which has been overloaded with the fleet, will be cleaned up, while the route with minimal services will be strengthened.
"The arrangement of this corridor is to balance the number of angkot with passenger needs. So the arrangement is more orderly and sustainable," he explained.
While waiting for the Perwali to be issued, the special technical age raid was temporarily stopped. However, the discipline of administrative completeness such as SIM and STNK is still carried out. Dishub has also collected data on vehicles that are over the limit as a basis for arrangement.
Jenal emphasized that drivers were still asked to comply with safety and order rules, including not smoking while driving, not driving carelessly, and maintaining passenger comfort.
"This arrangement is for the safety of residents and the future of Bogor City transportation. So it is not stopped, but we are arranging it better," he said.
Previously, hundreds of angkot drivers and owners staged an action at the Bogor City Hall to ask for a relaxation of the vehicle age limit.
