SERPONG - A teacher at the Elementary School (SD) 01, Rawa Buntu, Serpong, South Tangerang City (Tangsel), Banten, with the initials Y (55), is suspected of molesting dozens of his students.

Head of the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) for the Protection of Women and Children (PPA) of Banten, Tri Purwanto, said the teacher had now been reported to the police for alleged sexual abuse.

"There are 13 parents of students who came to report to us regarding the case that happened to their children. After we listened and clarified from the 13, nine parents finally reported to the Tangerang Police," he explained in Tangerang, Antara, Tuesday, January 20.

Based on the complaint of the parents, he continued, the sexual crime had been going on for a long time, so there were dozens of victims who complained.

"Initial information mentions the range from June 2025 to January 2026. However, the technical certainty is still being processed by the Tangerang Police," he said.

Currently, his party is assisting the victims in the ongoing legal process.

"They have made a report and we have handed over the legal process to the Tangsel Police PPA Unit. For the incident, we do not know the details," said Tri Purwanto.

In handling the case, his party will continue to coordinate with the police so that the legal process runs according to procedures and ensures the best support for the victims.

"We want this case to be resolved legally and the best for the children," said Tri Purwanto.

According to him, the teacher has been dismissed through a letter of official statement from the Head of the UPTD SDN Rawabuntu 1, Tarmiati, dated January 15, 2026.

In the document, the school stated that Y was suspended until an unspecified deadline and the case was transferred to the South Tangerang Education and Culture Office (PTK).

"Declaring that the person concerned will be dismissed for an unspecified period of time and transferring the legal path to the Education Office," he said.
