JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump invited Hungary to join the Gaza Peace Board as a founding member.

"With President Trump comes peace. Another letter has arrived. Hungary's efforts for peace are recognized," Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban wrote, as reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Monday, January 19.

When confirming Budapest's participation in the initiative, Orban said Hungary had accepted the invitation.

"President Trump has invited Hungary to join the work of the Peace Council as a founding member. Of course, we accept this honorable invitation," he added.

The White House, in a statement on Friday (16/1), announced the formation of a Peace Council to play a key role in realizing Trump's 20-point plan to permanently end Israel's war in Gaza and rebuild the region.

The Peace Dewas is also said to provide strategic oversight, mobilize international resources, and ensure accountability as Gaza transitions from conflict to peace and development.

The United States also formed a National Committee for Gaza Administration to implement the second phase of the Trump Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, a founding Executive Council, and the Gaza Executive Council to support the transition framework.

Trump also invited other heads of state and government to join the Gaza council, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
