TARAKAN - The North Kalimantan Provincial Government (Pemprov) has reiterated its commitment to support national policies and programs in the field of women's empowerment and child protection.
This commitment was conveyed by the Deputy Governor (Wagub) of North Kalimantan, Ingkong Ala, when attending a Coordination Meeting (Rakor) with the Minister of Empowerment of Women and Child Protection (PPPA) of the Republic of Indonesia Arifah Choiri Fauzi in Tarakan City, Friday, January 9.
Ingkong Ala said that his party (the Provincial Government) welcomed the presence of the Minister of PPPA and his staff as a concrete form of the central government's attention to strengthening the development of women's empowerment and child protection in Kaltara.
"The presence of the Minister is an honor for us and at the same time a tangible proof of the central government's commitment to strengthening the agenda for women's empowerment and child protection, especially in North Kalimantan," said Ingkong Ala.
He emphasized that this support was realized through the strengthening of regulations, planning and budgeting that were gender-responsive and child-friendly, as well as increased coordination across sectors and stakeholders.
"Strong synergy between the central government, local governments, and women's organizations is the key to answering various challenges in the field of women's empowerment and child protection," said Ingkong.
"We believe that solid collaboration will have a real impact on society," he continued.
Ingkong hopes that through the forum, a common perception, a common commitment, and concrete steps will be built to strengthen synergy and cross-sector collaboration in Kaltara.
Meanwhile, the Minister of PPPA Arifah Choiri Fauzi emphasized the importance of accelerating the establishment of the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) for the Protection of Women and Children (PPA) in all districts and cities.
"UPTD is one of the important strategies to strengthen the transformation of Women-Friendly and Child-Caring Villages and Neighborhoods into a Shared Space for Indonesia (RBI)," said Arifah.
"RBI is expected to be a collaborative platform across sectors to reduce violence, strengthen family resilience, and increase the role of women in development," he said.
