JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) anticipates that the land movement incident at various points in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), some time ago will not widen.
"Regarding the occurrence of land movement, from us that later when there is a flood of rainwater it does not widen, we cover it with tarps," said the Head of the Bantul BPBD, Mujahid Amirudin, when confirmed in Bantul, Friday, quoted by Antara.
Due to heavy rains that hit the Bantul area in late December 2025, it resulted in soil movement incidents in 13 locations spread across five sub-districts, namely Imogiri seven points, Dlingo two points, Kretek two points, Pundong one point, and Piyungan one point.
According to him, the closure in the area of the land movement is a temporary handling so that when the area is hit by heavy rain, the movement or cracks in the ground do not widen further to endanger the surrounding residents.
"Then, our people are expected to also be vigilant and see the developments in the area," he said.
Mujahid said that so far the movement of the land has not impacted settlements or threatened residents' homes, but only public facilities, including access roads that have collapsed.
"Until today, there are no residents who have been evacuated, because the movement of the land is not dangerous. Our identification results are not too dangerous for residents, the scale is not widespread," he said.
His party hopes that the community, as well as volunteers and village governments, will continue to monitor the land movement area, especially since the rainy season is still ongoing until some time in the future.
"However, friends in the disaster risk reduction forum (FPRB), our village head expects us to monitor the development, and immediately convey information to us when there is danger," he said.
