JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has decided to accelerate the implementation of the demolition of the former monorail project pole that is stuck along Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta. This was revealed by the Head of the DKI Jakarta Road Construction Service, Heru Suwondo.

"At the last leadership meeting, the Governor said that next week it would be dismantled. So, it will be accelerated, next week we will start. Insyaallah Wednesday," said Heru at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, January 7.

The demolition will be carried out by the Yellow Forces of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Department without third parties. Heru emphasized that his party was ready to immediately dismantle the old monorail project pole that was not completed.

"If we want it to be ready. So because Mr. Gub asked to be dismantled on Wednesday, yes we will run on Wednesday. Because all the rules have been fulfilled. So yes we will do the demolition and we will manage Jalan Rasuna Said," said Heru.

In the demolition of the pole, the DKI Provincial Government also carried out pavement arrangement to road repairs. Later, there will be no more separation between fast lanes and slow lanes because the pole in the middle of the lane has been dismantled.

"Later, the fast lane and slow lane separators will disappear, just like on the west side of Jalan Rasuna Said. There, the road and sidewalk are already neat," he said.

As previously reported, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has targeted the demolition of this monorail pole to be realized no later than this month. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared a special budget for the work, including the rearrangement of the Rasuna Said area, which has long been known as one of the busiest corridors in South Jakarta.

Previously, Pramono admitted that he had asked PT Adhi Karya (Persero) to dismantle the broken monorail pole in order to end the fate of the former failed project pole. Because, based on the court's decision, the asset was declared to belong to Adhi Karya.

However, until now, Adhi Karya has not moved to demolish it. So, Pramono admitted that the DKI Provincial Government would realize it.

"Because we have issued a letter, we have given them a one-month deadline. If they can't do it, we will do it ourselves," said Pramono.

According to him, the demolition of the monorail pole will be carried out simultaneously with the widening of the road and the construction of a new sidewalk to improve the quality of public space as well as facilitate vehicle traffic in the Kuningan office area.

Since a few years ago, the Jakarta monorail project pillars that are stuck along HR Rasuna Said and Asia Africa roads have begun to be considered disturbing.

Initially, the construction of the monorail project in Jakarta began in 2004. At that time, the Governor of DKI was still held by Sutiyoso. The DKI Provincial Government worked together with PT Jakarta Monorail as the developer or investor of the project.

The failure of the project began to appear after several years of construction. When the monorail pole was anchored, DKI Governor Fauzi Bowo (who replaced Sutiyoso) stopped the construction due to financial problems.

In 2014, former DKI Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama canceled the contract with PT Jakarta Monorail. In a court ruling, the assets of the monorail pole were declared to belong to Adhi Karya.
