JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka received a visit from the Special Presidential Envoy for Youth Generation and Arts Workers, Raffi Ahmad, and other Indonesian artists to discuss sending aid to flood victims in Aceh and Sumatra.
In a meeting held at the Vice President's Palace, Jakarta, Vice President Gibran received Raffi Ahmad, Special Staff to the President for Creative Economy Yovie Widianto, and artists from various fields, such as singer Tompi, host Melaney Ricardo, to actor and martial arts expert Iko Uwais.
"I and my musician friends here are also from the film, and from the MC, yes, we have planned assistance for (the victims) of Sumatra. We discussed the plan to continue to send aid, social activities there, to the mental health issue there," said Tompi as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 5.
Tompi explained that the artists took the initiative to send not only logistical assistance, but also social activities, to mental health consultations for disaster victims as a form of trauma healing.
Tompi, musicians and other artists in the country, also plan to make a special program during Ramadan for disaster victims.
Until now, the donation of assistance collected by musicians through the "100 Musicians Movement" has reached Rp. 17.2 billion. Donations that are stored through the Iluni UI account are still being distributed to disaster-affected areas.
"Some of the water pumps have been sent there, and in the future something heavier. The problem lies in the distribution. Later we will need further coordination (with the government)," said Tompi.
Meanwhile, Melaney Ricardo said in the meeting, Vice President Gibran asked that the collected donations could be accounted for so that there was no misappropriation or misinformation in the community.
"Earlier the Vice President said that if it could be in the form of an object that is needed by all our brothers and sisters there. It was immediately conveyed, immediately given publicly, so that it looks like this is what has been entrusted," said Melaney.
