Couple in Makassar who tortured and raped female workers arrested by police

MAKASSAR - A married couple (pasutri) with initials Sk (husband) and Sm (wife) were named suspects for alleged physical and sexual violence, up to rape of a female victim with the initials KH (22) at the Pesona Barombong Indah Housing, Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"The victim not only suffered persecution, but also rape which was carried out together by the husband and wife," said Makassar Police Chief Kombes Arya Perdana as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 5.

The Police Chief explained the chronology of the incident, namely it started when the suspect Smmencurigai Sk was suspected of having a special relationship or having an affair with KH, one of the employees of the yellow rice sales business owned by the stepfather.

Due to this suspicion, the victim was forced to enter the room with him and her husband. In the room, said the Police Chief, the victim was forced to admit the relationship, then was beaten and even forced to have sex with her husband and then recorded the video.

However, before the rape incident occurred, said Arya, the victim first experienced torture and persecution by the perpetrator SM.

"The victim was forced to confess, beaten, and kicked, then forced to have sex. The whole incident was recorded in video form by the perpetrators," he said.

Meanwhile, for evidence in this case, said the Police Chief, has been secured in the form of a video recording (coitus) by the police. The recording is in one mobile phone unit, but has not been disseminated.

Previously, the victim KH was suspected of being held captive at the perpetrator's house, but managed to escape and call his family to be picked up. Then report the incident to the Makassar Police.

As for the relationship between the victim and the perpetrator, Arya said, it was only a working relationship, where the victim worked at the perpetrator's yellow rice sales business and did not live in the house.

"This case was purely triggered by jealousy (Sumarni), which then led to acts of violence and coercion against the victim," he explained.

According to Arya, the application of this article to the suspect is Article 6 letter b Jo Article 14 paragraph (1) letter a and paragraph (2) of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes (TPKS), with a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison and / or a maximum fine of Rp. 300 million.

When asked by the Police Chief about the accusation, the suspect SM denied that he had not committed the act as alleged. However, he had suspected that her husband was having an affair with the victim.

"I was told that people were selling there (Jalan Hertasning), baroncong sellers, they all saw that they were playing in the place of sale, on top of the car. But I ignored it. I asked my husband if he had anything to do with him, then he denied it. So I want to make sure it's at home, it's not true (there was rape)," he said.

Previously, the Secretary of the Women's Problems Watch Foundation (YPMP) Alita Keren had accompanied the victim KH to report the criminal acts committed by the two reported couples at the SPKT Polrestabes Makassar, which were then handled by the Women and Children Service Unit (PPA).

From the initial assessment it was revealed that the victim had been forced to have sex with the perpetrator's husband twice. The victim is a worker at the perpetrator's nasi kuning selling business on Jalan Hertasning, Makassar City, for three months.

"The victim admitted that he was detained and said he was forced to have sex with his boss (husband), allegedly at the order of his female employer, then the video was recorded. The reason is that the victim is accused of having an affair with her husband," said Alita.
