JAKARTA - The TNI-Polri joint apparatus held a raid on sharp weapons (sajam) and dismantled the emergency tent at the gathering point of two groups of residents who were at war in the Kwamki Narama District, Mimika Regency, Central Papua.
The Mimika Police Chief AKBP Billyandha Hildiario Budiman in Timika, Monday, said security forces continued to try to encourage both parties to immediately make peace and end the conflict that has killed more than 10 residents since the conflict broke out in October 2025.
"We raid sharp tools. The local government also has an effort to reconcile the warring parties," said Billy.
In order to end the conflict between the two groups triggered by the affair case, the Mimika Police continued to coordinate with the Mimika Regency Government.
The Mimika Police Chief threatened to take firm action against individuals who tried to hinder the peace efforts of the two warring groups.
"If there are other parties or provocateurs who do not want peace, we will arrest and prosecute them," said Billy.
To the people of the Kwamki Narama District, the Mimika Police Chief asked them not to worry about the situation in the area.
Currently, as many as 400 joint TNI-Polri personnel have been deployed to Kwamki Narama to secure the area so that the conflict between the two groups does not spread to other places in the Timika City area.
Previously, Mimika Regent Johannes Rettob said his staff held a coordination meeting with local Forkopimda officials to take firm steps to end the conflict between two groups of residents in Kwamki Narama.
Bupati Rettob meminta aparat kepolisian menegakkan hukum positif bagi para pelaku konflik di Kwamki Narama dan mengimbau dua belah pihak yang bertikai segera berdamai.
