Police Arrest Two Perpetrators of Child Abduction in Sherwood Apartment, Victim's Father is the Brain of the Action

JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kelapa Gading Police managed to arrest two perpetrators of the abduction of a 3-year-old child that occurred at the Sherwood Apartment, Kelapa Gading Barat Village, Kelapa Gading District, North Jakarta.

The two perpetrators are known as JP and JE. Both were arrested in two different locations.

The perpetrator of JP was arrested at the Sherwood Kelapa Gading apartment during the incident. Meanwhile, the perpetrator of JE was arrested on Jalan Pintu Besi 1, Pasar Baru, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta.

The kidnapper with the initials JE is known to be the victim's father.

"The perpetrator took the child forcibly, because the ex-wife (victim) could not be contacted since 3 months ago until now. The perpetrator also did not have access to meet his son, so the perpetrator took the child forcibly with two of his friends," said Kelapa Gading Police Chief, Kompol Seto Handoko Putra when confirmed, Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Meanwhile, the two perpetrators with the initials JE and JP are still under investigation. The police are still hunting for another perpetrator with the initials D.

"Based on the cassation decision in inkrah with Decision Number: Number: 3218/K/Pdt/2025 of the Supreme Court that the child's custody rights belong to his mother (the reporter)," he said.

For their actions, the two perpetrators are threatened with Articles 450, 452 and 453 of the Criminal Code regarding the crime of kidnapping (child).

"We are investigating with the CCTV footage of the apartment that there was a kidnapping. It is known that there were 3 perpetrators," he said.

Previously it was reported that a boy with the initials JE alias Jos (3) was a victim of kidnapping in the P2 parking building of the Sherwood Apartment, West Kelapa Gading Village, Kelapa Gading District, North Jakarta.

The head of the Kelapa Gading Police, Kompol Seto Handoko Putra, explained that the incident began when the victim JE was about to go to church. When the victim and the domestic assistant were about to get into the car, suddenly a man came and forcibly took the victim's child with the initials JE.

"The perpetrator immediately fled through the emergency stairs. Meanwhile, the other perpetrators were waiting in a white Fortuner car," said Kompol Seto when confirmed, Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Meanwhile, an actor with the initials JP was successfully secured by the local apartment security. The case of child abduction was then reported to the Kelapa Gading Police.
