Traders in Aceh Tamiang Start to Feel the Economic Boom Again

JAKARTA - Traders in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh, are starting to feel the economic activity again as the buying and selling activity in the Tualang Cut Saturday Market rises.

"If the market is crowded like this, we are happy. Hopefully, it will be noticed," said a trader when interviewed at the location, Saturday, January 3.

He assessed that the disaster that occurred should be a shared experience for the community to rise collectively.

"For everyone, we are all excited. Don't give up and don't complain, all of that is a trial from God and hopefully there is wisdom behind all of this," he said.

The large number of market activities also fosters a sense of mutual support among traders. Another trader is optimistic that conditions will gradually return to normal.

"Keep up the spirit, friends, because we are both suffering. Don't give up," added the trader.

Saturday morning activities at the Tualang Cut Saturday Market are now gradually improving. People are starting to flock back to the market to buy groceries and daily necessities.

Based on the video circulating, the market was crowded with traders and buyers. Under the big tent and umbrella, traders were seen busy serving buyers.

Aceh Tamiang is one of the main priority areas in post-disaster recovery in Sumatra. The Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, assessed that the impact of the disaster in the region was the most severe compared to other affected areas.

"Of all the affected areas, the most severe is Aceh Tamiang," said Tito at Terminal 1B Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten.

President Prabowo Subianto previously also reviewed Aceh Tamiang and received reports that the need for clean water sanitation was still very urgent. In addition, a number of public facilities such as schools and health centers that were affected by the disaster have not been able to operate optimally.
