No More Social Media Live at the Office, ASN Natuna Must Obey Working Hours

NATUNA - The Regent of Natuna, Riau Islands Province, Cen Sui Lan issued a circular prohibiting state civil servants (ASN) and non-ASN employees in the Natuna Regency Government from using social media during working hours.

Head of the Human Resources Development and Management Agency (BKPSDM) of Natuna Regency, Muhammad Alim Sanjaya, said the policy was contained in Circular Letter Number 800.1.6.2./1177/BKPSDM/-UP3/XII/2025 regarding enforcement of discipline regarding the obligation to comply with working hours and the use of social media for ASN and non-ASN.

"The use of social media, especially live streaming that is not related to work, is not allowed to be carried out during working hours," said Muhammad Alim Sanjaya when confirmed from Natuna, Antara, Tuesday, December 30.

According to him, the ban specifically emphasizes restrictions on the use of social media that are not related to the implementation of official duties, in order to ensure that employees remain focused on their work and public services.

He explained that every employee who was found to have violated the provisions in the circular would be subject to sanctions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. However, the application of sanctions will be carried out gradually by considering the level of violation committed.

The circular was issued on December 29, 2025 with the aim of increasing the discipline and responsibility of employees in carrying out their duties.

In addition, this policy is also intended to optimize the use of working hours and maintain the ethics, professionalism, and image of ASN and non-ASN employees in the Natuna Regency Government environment.

"For sanctions, we see the level. However, at the initial stage, we hope that the immediate superiors can supervise their subordinates as much as possible," said Alim.
