BPBD Hulu Sungai Selatan (BPBD HSS), South Kalimantan (Kalsel), reported a provisional data of 4,180 people affected by the flood and 38 houses damaged by the flood since Saturday (27/12).
Head of the HSS BPBD Kusairi said that as of Sunday (28/12), officers in the field were still in the field to collect the latest data today.
"Until now, no residents have been displaced. The latest condition, the water has receded," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 29.
Based on data from the Disaster Management Operations Center (Pusdalops-PB) of the HSS BPBD, the flood submerged almost all areas of Kandangan City, including the Kelurahan Kandangan Barat, Kandangan Utara, Kandangan Kota, Jambu Hilir, and Amawang Kiri Muka Village, with the number of affected residents reaching 4,161 people in the area.
In addition to urban areas, Kusairi said that floods and extreme weather also had an impact on Loksado and Padang Batung Districts.
The HSS BPBD reported that the areas that were most affected included Tumingki Village (Loksado), Maliningin Village, Batu Bini Village, and Karang Jawa Muka in Padang Batung District, as well as almost all of the Kandangan City area.
Kusairi explained that the flood was triggered by high rainfall that occurred for quite some time so that the river water discharge increased and overflowed into the residents' settlements.
In Loksado District, flooding and extreme weather caused damage to residents' houses, public facilities, and infrastructure. In Tumingki Village, Datar Mangkung Hamlet, one unit of the residents' house was reported to be severely damaged and washed away, 24 units of houses were affected by flooding and mud, and one unit of the connecting bridge was damaged.
Meanwhile, Kusairi said, the continued data collection in Lumpangi Village, Loksado District, recorded 19 people affected by the flood, so that the total number of affected residents in South Hulu Sungai Regency became 4,180 people.
In the village, eight units of residents' houses were affected, six houses in RT 03 and two houses in RT 04.
In addition to residents' houses, the flood in Lumpangi Village also submerged a number of public facilities, including the Loksado Religious Affairs Office (KUA), SDN Lumpangi, Pelangi Kantauan TK, and Al Quran TK, with electronic equipment and textbooks submerged in water.
The HSS BPBD also reported a landslide in Loksado District, near the Panggungan border, which had closed the road and in RT 04 Lumpangi Village, which had affected part of the road.
Kusairi said that until now, the damage and material losses were still in the process of data collection, while the BPBD together with the sub-district and village governments and volunteers continued to monitor the field and preparedness for potential extreme weather.
"We urge the public to remain vigilant, especially those living in flood-prone and landslide areas, even though the current water conditions have begun to recede," said Kusairi.
