Disliked by the Public, the Discount for Pelni Boat Tickets is Left 32 Percent

Ticket Cruises are in Demand, Community

JAKARTA - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) or Pelni revealed that public interest is very high in the form of economic stimulus in the form of a 20 percent discount on ship tickets for the economy class. The discount quota is 32 percent.

The program has been running since November 21, 2025 with the ship departure schedule from December 17, 2025 to January 10, 2026.

Based on data as of December 25, 2025 at 08.00 WIB, Pelni's discounted ticket sales have reached 265,304 tickets or equivalent to the absorption of 68 percent of the total budget of Rp. 24.8 billion.

Meanwhile, in the period from December 17 to 25, 2025, the realization of the number of passengers was recorded at 164,385 passengers. The peak of realization occurred on December 18, 2025 with a number of 27,765 passengers or an increase of 97 percent compared to the same period of the previous year which only reached 14,046 passengers.

Pelni's Corporate Secretary Ditto Pappilanda said that this ticket discount stimulus program went smoothly and received a positive response from the public.

"The increasing ticket sales shows that the economic stimulus from the government is really felt by the community who want to travel at affordable prices during the year-end holidays," Ditto said in an official statement, Thursday, December 25.

Ditto said this program has encouraged increased community mobility, especially on certain routes, including Belawan-Batam (14,591 passengers), Batam-Belawan (13,699), Jayapura-Biak (4,357), Makassar-Bau-Bau (4,048), and Bau-Bau-Makassar (3,515).

"With the remaining discount quota of around 32 percent, we urge people who have not booked tickets to immediately make a purchase. If the economic stimulus quota has been fully absorbed, then the ticket fare will return to normal prices," he said.

Despite the high enthusiasm of the public, Ditto emphasized that Pelni still prioritizes the aspect of shipping safety. He said that the company also continues to coordinate with port authorities to ensure the number of passengers is in accordance with the maximum capacity of the ship.
