JAKARTA - Potential rain, including rain accompanied by lightning, is predicted to occur in a number of major cities in Indonesia on Thursday, December 25.

Quoting Antara, in the western part of Indonesia, the potential for lightning rain needs to be watched out for in the Tanjung Pinang, Pangkal Pinang, Bandar Lampung, Pontianak, and Banjarmasin areas.

In addition, moderate intensity rain is predicted to occur in Tanjung Selor. A number of other cities are expected to experience light rain, including Medan, Padang, Jambi, Bengkulu, Palembang, Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Palangkaraya.

For other western areas, cloudy weather is predicted to occur in Banda Aceh, while hazy air conditions are potentially experienced in Pekanbaru City.

Turning to the eastern part of Indonesia, the potential for lightning rain is predicted to occur in Kupang and Kendari. Moderate intensity rain is likely to fall in Sorong and Merauke.

Meanwhile, light rain is predicted to occur in Makassar, Mamuju, Manado, Ternate, Ambon, Manokwari, Nabire, Jayapura, and Jayawijaya.

BMKG also predicts that the weather conditions will be thick clouds in Denpasar, Mataram, and Gorontalo. Meanwhile, in Palu, the weather is generally predicted to be smoky or foggy, which has the potential to affect visibility.
