KLH Involve Environmental Audit Academics in Disaster-Affected Areas

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Environment (KLH) has involved experts and academics from various universities in Indonesia in conducting environmental evaluations and audits in a number of disaster-affected areas in Sumatra.

"We are deploying all components of the university in the country to get this. So we will get together, so that the scientific study is very high," said Minister of Environment (Minister of Environment) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 23.

The Minister of LH targets that the evaluation process to environmental audits can be completed by March 2026.

According to him, support from experts is needed in this matter so that the policies carried out will be based on scientific studies.

"Everything is based on accuracy, which then we can prove scientifically," said Minister Hanif.

On the same occasion, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto said that environmental evaluation in terms of disaster management in Sumatra is a national strategic need.

He appreciated the Minister of LH through this step, because according to him, the involvement of academics in this matter is the right step so that the policies carried out are based on science.

The Minister of Education and Technology, Brian, said that his party had asked the rectors at universities to include a number of experts in various fields, such as hydrogeology, forestry, environment, civil engineering, and spatial experts, to be involved in this environmental evaluation process.

"We will involve this in a multidisciplinary team. Later, this team will certainly be under the direction of the Ministry of Environment (KLH) to conduct studies, conduct research that can be held accountable academically, scientifically, scientifically, and technologically, so that they will provide the results of the study as objectively as possible." said Minister of Education and Technology Brian Yuliarto.
